They were very happy so they remembered me for this project!Ĭasey : Capcom had heard some music from another game that I was involved in. I helped produce over 30 tracks for the game where we took classic Capcom Street Fighter themes going back over 30 years and making them very modern and stylish. Jeff : I worked with Capcom several months earlier on another game called Marvel vs. Because they loved my music and remix of Dante’s theme in MVCI, they wanted me to take a stab at an entirely new and original theme for what turned out to be Devil May Cry 5. It was after Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite when they came back to me for another game. That project went smoothly, and they loved our work.
I then re-composed, remixed, and arranged themes for a handful of characters including a remix of Dante’s theme music from Devil May Cry 3, “Devils Never Cry.” They wanted a variety of styles for remixes on some of their themes, so I threw my hat in the mix and they really liked my metal, EDM, and industrial style. In-game credits have also been updated to properly reflect the new recording.How did you get involved in writing the battle themes for V, Dante and Nero?Ĭody : I had been working with Jeff Rona (who composed ‘Crimson Cloud’ for Devil May Cry 5 ) on a wide range of projects including films, television, documentaries, etc., when he was asked to produce the score for the next game in their mash-up franchise Marvel vs. As you hear the new track in new promotional materials and in-game, please expect the instrumental parts to sound the same as before. It is worth noting that the hard work of the Suicide Silence band members, as well as song writers Cody Matthew Johnson & Mark Heylmun, remained intact, as they were not involved with the incidents. As such, our development team, producers, recording and mixing teams have worked hard to find and implement a new vocal track by Michael Barr.

The track originally featured Suicide Silence vocalist Eddie Hermida, however, due to the accusations of sexual misconduct held against him, many have spoken up citing how he has “sexually and emotionally” abused an underage girl.Ĭapcom heard the news and now, after a few months have passed, Yuri Araujo of Capcom has responded and revealed, ex-Volumes frontman Michael Barr has replaced Hermida’s vocals. The song “Subhuman” has struck quite the controversy as well as backlash as the Dante battle theme song of the game that was composed by Cody Matthew Johnson and featured members of Suicide Silence was re-evaluated by developers. Earlier this year, Capcom decided to pull a brand new music video made for Devil May Cry 5 in less than 24-hours after premiering on The Tokyo Game Show this past September.
