If you find you need more power you can always add a DP600III or DP1000III and they will all work together.įor location work I like a couple of AD200s and an AD400Pro but you are spending considerably more money for that setup.

None of these are really suitable for use out of the studio.įor a home studio I'd start with a couple of MS300 (I have used the MS300 it's excellent value for money). Looking at the specs I think the DPIII is a better strobe than QSII but I haven't used the DPIII. So don't buy the DP600II, the DP600III isn't shipping yet and if Pixapro decides to sell it it will be a month or three after it starts shipping before they get their branded copies delivered. If I was Pixapro I'd replace the GSII with the MS and probably the QSII with the DPIII. The DPII range was a not very interesting set of strobes but the DPIII version is lots more attractive. Godox seems to be trying to rationalise its mains strobe line with the newly announced MS and DPIII ranges. At the moment people seem to stock QTII and QSII as top of the range IGBT and VCO mains strobes then GSII as a budget strobe. Nobody is going to stock all these items. Unlike the other two they go to the photography show and you can talk to them and play with the kit.Īs far as mains strobes are concerned Godox's line is a mess (see here ). I have recently settled on Pixapro as my preferred vendor. I suspect because they don't have the volume to justify it. Lencarta used to brand the Godox kit as Lencarta but seem to have stopped doing that. I've bought stuff from Pixapro and Lencrta and both have been fine. I think this is incompetence rather than deception. Photomart also sell Ilux kit which they list as Godox. Whilst Photomart claim to be the official Godox distributor Godox doesn't have them in their l ist of distributors. Is a 600w strobe overkill for a home studio?
